The Madison Psychedelic Society was created by the community of volunteers who were participants in the 2014-15 UW-Madison Pharmacy School's psilocybin pharmakokinetics study. After the study, many of us wanted to continue our involvement in psychedelic research and the growing conversation around psychedelic therapy. After producing the Midwest Psychedelic Healing Symposium with OmTerra in 2018, we began meeting monthly to continue the conversation at a grassroot level and in a public setting. We consider it a wonderful privilege to be able to share our research experiences in a time when the psychedelic experience is being illuminated for its healing and transformative capabilities. Local research and local community brought us to where we are, and we are glad of both. Last year an excellent article was published about the innovative psychedelic research being held at the UW-Madison: Altered States of Mental Health Treatment

We're so excited that our monthly meetings have been expanding into satellite conversations; from the general meeting you can connect with others interested in discussing the science of Psychedelic Neurochemistry and Microdosing, and Integration Practices. A group discussion focused on Legalization & Policy is in the mix. And this month, we are excited to start a general Book Club! We plan to meet monthly and move through books with an eye to building our depth of community knowledge.
We are starting off with the MAPS-published The Manual Of Psychedelic Support, which is a practical guidebook for creating care services and harm reduction spaces at music festivals and events. We hope to eventually use this book to fuel our own local harm reduction activism. We will be moving through the book in chunks over the coming months; if you'd like to join us, please drop us a line for our schedule and meeting location! The book is available for download at psychsitter.com and for purchase at www.maps.org/store Our meeting on Thursday April 25th will be in the Mendota room on the ground floor of the Wil-Mar Center. We're still planning on a potluck. See you soon!
Please join us for our monthly meeting at the Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center at 7:30 PM on Thursday, April 25th. The potluck at our last meeting was such a success that we're going to do it again. Come early if you'd like to bring food. We'll be setting up about 6:30.
Our next meeting will be at 7:00 PM, March 28th, at a new venue: the Will-Mar Neighborhood Center, 953 Jenifer St. in Madison. We're also excited to announce our first potluck dinner. If you'd like to bring food and help set up, please come to the Will-Mar Center at 6:30. Note that we'll be setting out a donation basket to help defer the cost of the meeting place.
The Psychedelic Society of Minneapolis will host the Community Symposium and Storytelling event on March 22nd at 6:00 PM at Hamline University's Sundin Music Hall. This is a great opportunity to build community across the Midwest. For more details and registration information, visit the conference website.
The theme of this year's International Forum on Consciousness is "Psychedelic Therapy in Society: Exploring the Mechanisms of Action and Delivery of Care." This conference will be a major event for the global psychedelic community. The conference will take place May 16th and 17th at the Promega campus in Fitchburg. Tickets are still available as well as scholarships. More information is available on the conference website.
Our February meeting will be on Thursday the 28th at Om Fusion Indian Cuisine on East Washington. The meeting starts at 7:00. You're welcome to join us at 6:00 for great Indian food and conversation before the meeting begins.
